Not Getting High Grades in Math or Reading?

Most children who underperform in Reading or Math do so because they have learning gaps from prior years.
These gaps exist within the 6 sub-domains of Reading and 4 sub-domains of Math. This is shown in the accompanying graphic.
Because of gaps, children have weaker foundations which makes learning new concepts harder as children are not able to connect new knowledge they are acquiring in class with existing (weak) knowledge.
The gaps grow larger over time making it harder and more challenging for children to connect new learning with foundational knowledge. A point is reached when a child loses interest and does not respond to interventions. It is therefore important that these gaps are determined and closed as early as possible.
